FAQs
We have put together some FAQs of the most common queries we receive. If you do not see the question you have below, please contact us and we will be happy to assist.
Who can apply?
Applications are welcomed from third party professionals on behalf of children and young people who live or study in North Kirklees. Applicants must be aged seventeen or under on the 1st September in the year of application.
What are your eligibility criteria?
We have four simple eligibility criteria:
- The child or young people must live or study in North Kirklees. This is defined as anyone in Kirklees who doesn’t have an HD postcode.
- The child or young person must be aged seventeen or under on the 1st of September of the academic year of the application.
- There is demonstrable financial need.
- The child or young person has not already received support from us during either their primary or secondary schooling.
How do I apply?
All applications need to be made by completing an application form. This can be completed online or downloaded and emailed or posted to us. Please note that Let June can only receive applications from professionals or accredited personnel working in the interests of the child and we are unable to accept applications directly from the family of the child or young person.
What information do I need in order to apply?
The application form will guide you through the information that the Trustees require to consider making an award. In addition to the young person meeting the age and location criteria, the Trustees will consider the financial needs of the family and the nature of the request being made. In relation to the former, if the young person is in receipt of Pupil Premium, this will be sufficient to confirm financial need. If this does not apply, more detailed information concerning income and expenditure of the family will be required. This is set out in the Financial Information Form. Particular attention will be paid by the Trustees to the section headed “What Difference Can We Make” since this is central to Let June’s focus.
How long does the application process take?
All Trustees consider all applications to Let June. It is the Trustees’ target to respond with a decision within two weeks of receiving all the information that has been requested.
Do you have application deadlines?
No. We welcome applications all year round.
How is Let June funded?
Let June was founded with funding from the Dewhirst family. We also receive ad hoc donations but we do not actively fundraise, nor do we receive any public funding.
Are there any items/activities that Let June will not fund?
Let June will consider any application where the Trustees feel that there is an opportunity to make a significant difference to a young person’s life. Specifically excluded are applications in respect of school uniforms, white goods, home furniture, living expenses, taxis (travel costs) and debt repayments.
Can I make multiple applications for the same child?
To ensure our funds go to the widest number of children and young people possible we will usually only consider one application per child in primary school and one application in secondary school/college. In exceptional circumstances we may consider supporting a subsequent award, however you are advised to contact us before making an application.
Can I request funding for multiple children for the same item?
We recognise that for things like school trips, the family circumstances of many children may exclude them participating. Let June will therefore consider applications to support multiple children taking part, although our level of support will be proportionate to the amount requested and the overall cost of the trip.
